Four things worth trying

Ask what it costs
Ask the price of a fade, a beard trim, or something it does not offer. It quotes from a real price list and says so when something is not on it.

Book a Thursday afternoon
It checks real availability before it offers you a time, so it will not hand you a slot that is already taken.

Then ring back and move it
Ask it to push your booking to Monday. Finding an existing appointment and changing it by voice is the difficult half of this.

Talk over it, change your mind, mumble
Interrupt it halfway through. Give it the wrong date and correct yourself. This is where most phone systems fall over.
